    Kia is the founder of Kia Kamran P.C., (KKPC) established in November 1996,and has broad experience representing individuals and companies in all facets of music business, entertainment, trademark, copyright, internet and new media, corporate, and transactional law. With nearly three decades of practice, Kia brings a rare combination of legal expertise and hands-on industry experience to his clients. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he served as Director of concerts at California State University, Northridge, where he booked and promoted live concerts, and subsequently worked as a junior booking agent at Variety Artists International, Inc., helping with the touring careers of nationally and internationally renowned touring acts. He also interned at Virgin Records America and Nederlander Concerts, building a deep fluency in the music industry before entering law. 

    Kia represents a diverse roster of clients including artists, record labels, record producers, music publishers, personal managers, talent agents, models, dancers, concert producers, experiential production companies, marketing companies, entrepreneurs, internet companies, and telecommunications companies, among many others. His transactional practice covers all types of music and entertainment agreements, including recording, publishing, licensing, touring, producing, endorsement, representation, personal appearance, and film and TV music agreements, as well as executive employment agreements, entity formations and acquisitions, product endorsement and sponsorship agreements, and non-disclosure and trade secret matters. Kia practice also encompasses the representation of internet viral properties, influencers, and social media marketing companies. 

    Kia is an active voice in entertainment law education and scholarship. Since 2012, he has taught the UCLA Extension course “Legal and Practical Aspects of the Music Business”, and regularly speaks on entertainment law and intellectual property topics ranging from foundational industry matters to cutting-edge developments in technology and law.

    Desiree Torres is a senior associate at the firm with a demonstrated history and passion for handling trademark and other intellectual property matters.

    Desiree is a graduate of California Western School of Law in San Diego where she graduated with a business law and practice concentration with honors and served as president of the Business Law Society.  Desiree also focused her studies on intellectual property and entertainment law courses, earned four (4) academic excellence awards (highest grade in course), and obtained a provisional license to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.   

    Prior to joining Kia Kamran P.C. Ms. Torres gained foundational experience in intellectual property as an intern at Eastman & McCartney following her graduation from law school, and subsequently served as a contract attorney at Lucem from 2019 to 2020. Her practice encompasses a wide range of matters in trademark registration, prosecution, and copyright law.

    Giulia Jannelli is an intellectual property attorney specializing in trademark and copyright registration, protection, enforcement, and portfolio management in the United States and internationally. She manages domestic and global trademark portfolios for clients in the music, media, entertainment, and fashion industries, as well as celebrities, artists, and digital creators.

    Giulia advises clients on brand development and protection strategies, including trademark clearance, U.S. and international prosecution, global filing strategies, and market expansion. She regularly handles international trademark applications through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and coordinates trademark protection and enforcement efforts with foreign counsel worldwide.

    Her practice also includes trademark enforcement, cease-and-desist matters, coexistence agreements, settlement agreements, licensing agreements, endorsement agreements, and other intellectual property-related contracts.

    Mehak serves as an Intellectual Property Law Clerk & Paralegal in the firm's Intellectual Property Department since 2024. Her practice encompasses matters involving trademark prosecution, copyrights, licensing and infringement, business formation filings along with legal research and docketing. 

    Mehak earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) concentrating on Business Law, Counselling of Startups, Dealmaking, Entertainment and Music Law, and Intellectual Property Law, from the USC Gould School of Law (2024), receiving the Dean's Tuition Fellowship Award.

    Laura serves as Administrative Assistant at Kia Kamran P.C., where she supports the firm's attorneys and staff in the day-to-day management of client matters and office operations. Her responsibilities include client communications, scheduling, file management, administrative coordination, and supporting the firm's organizational and operational needs. Laura plays an integral role in maintaining the firm's high standards of professionalism and operational excellence.

    Laura earned her Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Screenwriting from the New York Film Academy (2025), where her studies focused on screenwriting, the entertainment industry, and creative storytelling.

    She received her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, with a concentration in American Media and a minor in Music, from Smith College (2016).     Todd represents artists, songwriters, composers, producers, musicians, managers, music publishers, independent labels, and record companies in connection with recording, publishing, licensing, distribution, merchandising, endorsement, copyright, royalty, and catalog exploitation matters. He advises clients on the development, protection, monetization, and administration of music and related intellectual property rights.

    Prior to joining Kia Kamran P.C., Todd spent more than two decades in senior business and legal affairs roles within the entertainment industry. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at Paramount. He previously held business and legal affairs positions with The Walt Disney Company and Disney Television Animation, where he advised on development, production, licensing, talent agreements, intellectual property, and music-related matters across film, television, and streaming projects.

    Todd is currently pursuing a certificate in UCLA's Music Business executive program.
